The Illumia Journey
A cohort of six. Four real professionals. Two field visits. One parent-child session. One project presented to the world. Every session designed with intention. Nothing generic. Nothing repeated.
Session One · Individual · 90 Minutes
Before the cohort begins, every young person meets the Illumia founder one-on-one. This is not an assessment. It is the first real conversation about who they are — what they notice, what they are drawn toward, what they have never been asked before. For most children at this age, it is the first time a credible adult outside their family has asked — and then listened without an agenda.
Session Two · Roundtable One · 2 Hours
The cohort meets its first real professional — someone who has built something in the world. Six children, one professional, and the founder sit together. The professional shares a genuine challenge from their life. The children question them, voice their perspectives, push back, debate. At the end, the professional gives the cohort a real problem to work on. This is not a talk. It is a roundtable where the children do most of the talking.
Session Three · Roundtable Two · 2 Hours
A second professional. A completely different world. The children arrive sharper this time — they know how the room works, and they know how to use it. A second problem is offered. Each child begins to feel which direction pulls at them most.
Session Four · Field Visit · 3 Hours
The cohort goes somewhere real — a design studio, a hospital, a trading floor, a newsroom, an architect's practice. Not as tourists. As observers with questions prepared in advance and a structured debrief waiting at the end. The debrief asks three things: what surprised you, what confused you, and what question are you now carrying that you were not carrying before? That question is the real product of the session — and some children are still thinking about it years later.
Session Five · Parents + Children + Psychologist · 2 Hours
The only session that includes parents. For the first forty-five minutes, the six children meet separately with a senior child psychologist — an honest, facilitated conversation about what it actually feels like to be 13 or 14 right now, without parents in the room. Simultaneously, parents meet with the founder. In the final thirty minutes, children and parents come together. Each child says one thing they want their parent to know. Each parent responds. Facilitated, structured, and unlike any conversation they have had at home.
Session Six · Roundtable Three · 2 Hours
A third professional. By now the children have found their voice in the room. They ask sharper questions. They disagree more confidently. They defend positions they have thought through. The project they are working on begins to take real shape.
Session Seven · Field Visit · 3 Hours
A second visit to a different kind of place. The contrast between the two field visits is itself the lesson — the world is wider than any one path, and every child's fire burns in a different direction. A well-run debrief produces a question worth returning to.
Session Eight · Roundtable Four · 2 Hours
The fourth and final professional. Four different lives. Four different problems. Four roundtable conversations where the children were taken seriously by people who built something real. The children now choose the one problem that matters most — the one they will stand behind at the end.
Session Nine · Individual · 90 Minutes
The founder meets each child one-on-one for the final time. Together they complete the Illumia Map — a personal document of the child's strengths, the questions they are carrying, the project they chose to work on, and the direction they are beginning to move toward. The child receives it. It belongs to them.
Session Ten · Cohort + Parents + Professional · 90 Minutes
The programme closes in front of the people who matter most. Each child presents the project they developed across the sessions — to the professional who gave them the problem, and to their parent. The professional responds seriously. The parent witnesses their child think, speak, and defend their ideas in a room of accomplished adults. This is the moment both of them carry forward long after the programme ends.
Session One · Individual
A one-on-one conversation with the Illumia founder. What do you notice? What are you drawn toward? For most children at this age, it is the first time an adult has asked — and then listened.
Sessions 2, 3, 6, 8 · Roundtables
Four real professionals. Four different worlds. Six children sit with each one, question them, push back, and receive a real problem to work on. The children do most of the talking.
Sessions 4 & 7 · Field Visits
Two visits to two different real places. Structured questions. Structured debrief. The question each child leaves with is worth returning to.
Session 5 · The Mirror
The only session that includes parents. Children with the psychologist. Parents with the founder. Then together — each child says one thing they want their parent to know.
Session Nine · Individual
The Illumia Map is completed. A personal document of strengths, questions, and direction. The first record that has ever existed of who they are becoming.
Session Ten · The Presentation
The child presents their project to the professional and their parent. The parent witnesses their child think and defend their ideas. This is the moment both of them carry forward.

Admission
Every cohort is limited to six young people. We do not select on academic record, extracurricular achievements, or school attended. We select on one criterion: is this child ready to be in a real conversation with an accomplished adult — and mean it? We do not fill seats. We curate a room.
Conversations by introduction or by reaching out directly.
Six families. Ten sessions. One journey that will not be forgotten. Illumia has already worked with young people across Mumbai. If you are reading this and something in you is already certain — reach out below.
Reach out and we will arrange a time to speak — just you and the Illumia founder. No forms. No pressure. A real conversation to understand whether Illumia is the right fit for your child.
