Mumbai · A Programme for Young People · Ages 13–14
Illumia gives young people the one thing
school was never designed to give —
a deep, unshakeable knowledge of themselves.
Not what they will study. Not what they will earn.
Who they are. What they stand for. Where they are going.
A cohort of six children. No more. · Ten sessions. · One founder in every room.
"We are not trying to fill children with knowledge.
We are trying to light a fire that will never go out."
The Illumia Philosophy
Three things we believe
I
Curiosity is not something children need to be given. It is something they are born with. The best education in the world does not create it. It protects it.

Between 13 and 14, the brain is building the architecture of adulthood. What happens in this window is not enrichment. It is permanent. It is who they become.
Research basis: Prof. Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, University College London
III
The research is unambiguous. A single skilled, present adult who sees a young person clearly — and holds that vision for them — is the most powerful developmental gift a child can receive.
Research basis: Prof. William Damon, Stanford University
What changes in your child
Six shifts — in how your child thinks, speaks, and carries themselves — that begin inside the programme and do not stop when it ends.
Most young people move through adolescence playing roles assigned by school, family, and peers. Illumia helps them become the author of their own story — so they enter rooms with something to say, not something to prove.

Research at Stanford found that only 20% of young people have a clear sense of purpose. Not because they lack ambition — but because no one has ever asked them the right questions and stayed long enough to hear the answer.

Across ten sessions, every child sits across from real professionals, presents real thinking, and defends real ideas in front of people who take them seriously. The confidence this builds is not performed. It is earned.

Adolescents who experience a structured relationship with a skilled, present adult show measurably higher resilience, stronger identity, and sustained wellbeing — years after the programme ends. Not because they were fixed. Because they were finally seen.

Illumia includes one structured moment where your child speaks to you — in a facilitated room, honestly — about who they are becoming. Parents consistently describe it as the moment something shifted between them and their child. Permanently.

The Illumia Map — a personal document of their strengths, the questions they are carrying, and the direction they are beginning to move toward. The first record that has ever existed of who they were becoming.

"Illumia is built on research across Stanford, Northwestern, University College London, and Emory University. The finding they share: the years between 13 and 14 are the most neurologically receptive window of a human life. What a young person encounters in that window becomes the foundation of who they will be."
This is for
You have built something. You know what it takes to operate at the highest level — the clarity of purpose, the confidence in a room, the knowledge of what you stand for when no one is telling you what to do. You want that for your child. Not eventually. Now, while there is still time to shape it.
Illumia has already worked with young people across Mumbai. The founding cohort opens in 2027. If something in you is already certain — reach out and we will arrange a time to speak, just you and the Illumia founder.
Conversations by introduction or by reaching out directly. Six families. No more.
